For those of you who don’t know this guy, he was one of the two lead songwriters for Barenaked Ladies. He was fired for being depressive and having drug problems, and then he released one solo album, which kinda kicked ass. Go listen to it. On a related note, “Falling for the First Time” by BnL has one of my favorite drum tracks ever.

“About A Girl” has one of my favorite fan theories, despite the fact I’m 99% sure it’s incorrect, and if it isn’t, then it isn’t about the singer’s own personal experience. According to the theory, the song is a closeted man trying to explain to his girlfriend that he’s gay. It fits the lyrics, but I’m gonna write this off as false considering the singer has a child and if he was open enough to write a hit song about it, then his significant other probably would’ve realized by this point. It still makes the song more interesting, though.
